Eine Personalberatung ist meist spezialisiert auf Fachspezialisten und Kader im unteren und mittleren Bereich und versucht diese Kaderstellen mittels Kandidaten, welche über konventionelle Inserate / Stellenausschreibungen angesprochen und selektioniert werden zu besetzen.
Im Headhunting hingegen wird auf allen Kaderstufen agiert, aber oft auf den oberen Führungslinien (CxO, Managing Directors etc.). Das kann bei wichtigen nationalen oder internationalen Unternehmen sein. Ein Headhunter erarbeitet zusammen mit dem Auftraggeber ein Konzept wie er für eine beauftragte Besetzung einer Kaderstelle die beste Besetzung finden kann.
